As a Software Engineer (Senior) that also owns his own business and works with the founding principal of a very lucrative and luxurious global brand, I often find myself wondering how do I do it?
Well, let me tell you, I take my time with things. What I like to do is start my morning right when the markets open. I usually start my day with a five-mile run. I also will usually max out bench and overhead press. Actually, the most important lift is arguably the overhead press when it comes to physique. If you can only do one exercise, and you want to look jacked, I would recommend you come in and smash the overhead press. Something like 10 sets of 15 reps 2 times per week. Then just balance that with some pulling of some sort. I would recommend chin ups. Last time I lifted, I hit overhead press for 155 pounds for 2 reps.
Anyway, the one thing I really enjoy is Chess, Hiking, Music, Theatre, Writing, Acting, Video Editing, Photography, and Filming. Oftentimes, I’ll just take time out of my day to do some creative tasks. This keeps me grounded. It just feels good. It literally feels good for your body.
It becomes so difficult to keep up with all the responsibilities that I have. Updating my LinkedIn profile becomes its own task. Honestly, I have no clue how to even write my resume, because it is so long. We are taught to keep everything on one page. But honestly it is like, how?
Being a Senior Software Engineer means being assertive and confident. But it also means taking the time to stay in touch with the common man.
The way I see it, if a hiring manager isn’t willing to take the time to read my entire resume, they aren’t worth my time. I am going to redo my resume and it will be 9 pages long. I want hiring managers to spend the time to read ALL 9 PAGES of my brand-new resume that will be dropping later this Fall.
